Fuse Question, need help

Post by r0bertt »

I keep blowing the green 30 fuse running to the hot wire for the battery...

Need some help... I blew like 7 fuses... I was replacing the battery, but nothing was happening when i tried turning the key... Then i notice the green 30 fuse was blown... So I replaced it and as soon as it touched the metal it was blown again... So would try different ways to connect it like putting the fuse in first then connecting the hot or ground wire to the battery but to no avail the same thing, a blown fuse... Below I attached a picture so you know what fuse Im talking about... Please any suggestions on whats going on will be greatly appreciated... I have no idea, unless i need to replace the part that the fuse go in... :headscratch:

If you have blown nothing else besides 7 30A fuses, count yourself very very lucky. Replaced your battery lately, did you?

Look at your pic. Look very very closely. Look at the markings on the battery beside the big Red and Black wires...

In case you didn't catch what Don was trying to say. The battery leads should be reversed.

Black is typically ground (-ve) and Red is usually Positive (+ve). You should try to keep it that way if you don't want broken stuff.

Thank you, Captain Obvious. I wanted him to spot it himself and appreciate the full weight of the :duh: moment...

r0bertt - Hopefully you haven't blown anything besides a handful of fuses. Let us know how it goes!

Bwahaha I am sorry Don, but with the gravity of the situation I was afraid he wouldn't notice.

That's actually the incorrect battery. The leads may not reach.

The leads do reach, Advance auto gave me the battery and stated it would be compatable, that's what through me off, because I was thinking the battary went in the same way so I was not thinking about how the leads needing to switched... But yeah I knew what DONTZ125 was talking about...
