1WG bodywork question

Post by slickwill »

Everything was stripped off when I bought my bike. I figured out where the larger brackets on the right go but where do the others go?
...dude you ride an offroad bike with slicks, 1/2 the weight of a GS, double the suspension, with a browning 50 cal going off 32" from your skull as a daily freaking driver - I'd expect anything except a nitro dragbike to be bland by comparison - SSG

Those two gold-colored 90 degree brackets aren't for mounting bodywork. They bolt to the inside of the frame and there is a cross brace that bolts to it, and the fuel tank in turn bolts to the cross brace.

Okay, those are spares then. I have that cross brace in place.

I may just make my own mounts since I'm mounting an aftermarket lower.

The Y shaped bracket is not a fairing mount-may be a coil mount? (Think it is the screen/mirror stay inner mount behind headstock)
The L shaped bracket fixes to a captive nut on the LHS frame rail at the rearmost bottom.
When fixed correctly it virtually obscures the sump plug ;which is why so many new owners ask;" How do I drain the oil?"

1 lower left (dark one) = horn bracket
2 silverish ones above = tank cross bar mounts to those (as mentioned)
1 in the middle = radiator filler cap (mounts inside the frame on the head tube)
2 dark ones on the right = lower fairing brackets (mount in same place as radiator - IIRC as my track bike doesn't use them)

Thanks. Though that means they are all spares.
