Hello All:
I am thinking about buying a 1991 FZR 1000 basket case. The original motor burns oil so the owner has picked up a low mileage 96 YZR 1000 motor. I am wondering if this 96 YZR motor will drop in without any major hassles?
cheers,
Ronnie.

Re: Buying a 91 FZR ?
ony issue will be the top mount on the cylinder head. I believe theres only 1 on the ACE whereas 2 on the FZR. Its possible to swap the heads over whilst keeping everything else

Stiggy is right.
The oil burning engine probably has buggered piston rings and bores so you would not want those. Ideally you would want (I believe) the FZR barrels, with the YZF's forged pistons. Could that be done? I'm thinking of doing something similar.
Failing that you could maybe have some sort of bracket fabricated but then I reckon the problem would be the fact that the engine on these bike forms part of the frame structure. Put two brackets into the mix and it may fcuk up frame rigidity.
