Oil line damage

While looking at my broken exhaust studs at the weekend I noticed the external oil line that runs from the oil filter housing to the head
has been crushed to half its original diameter! looks like plier marks?
Would this have caused the head to suffer oil starvation? and would it be easier to source a replacment engine to be on the safe side?

for the sake of a bit of rubber hosing i'd replace it. better that than running the risk of oil starvation. replacement engine is an option but quite drastic. if it just to rob bits of to keep yours going or to break both and build one good one out of two then fair play but thats alot of work to do yourself especialy if you knowledge of engines is limited.

very good at building vw flat 4's no help with this engine
the pipe in question is metal looks the same width as brake line on a car, will pop a picture on latter

You can buy replacement hoses, i may still have a set from my old engine. I'll have a look around but im sure you could get them from ebay or the like.

I know the line you are talking about, it's not a hose as others are suggesting. It'd reaplace the line. You should be able to find one from somebody that is parting and engine.

replace it NOW do not ask just do it, a starved head breaks and is EXPENSIVE for the sake of the price for an piece of oil line Check out THATKID (forum member) he must have it in stock

not only has that been kinked partially closed but there appears to be burn damage to the outer cover where it has touched the head.
There are hydraulic pipe guys who will make that pipe up for you for not great loads of money, I used a fork lift truck hydraulic specialist (I took a quick look for his card but cannot spot it ) I fished him from the Yellow pages if I remember correctly.

Worst comes to worst, a piece of metric brake line and two compression fittings will run you about $3.


That banjo fitting is about a $4 item.
