Unable to turn rear wheel when the bike is on lifts?

Hi All,

I was going to lube my chain and put my bike on lifts via the rear swing arm.

For some reason, I'm unable to fully turn the rear wheel. The wheel would only turn for a few inches only and then it seems to lock. When turning the wheel the opposite direction, it would do the same.

Once the bike is off the lifts, I can push and move the bike without problems.

Does anybody know why?

You could have a warped rear brake disc, or have stuck links in the final transmision chain, or a really bad rear wheel bearing.

But I can push the bike back and forth without problems but when the rear is on lifts, I can only turn only about three inches back and forth...It doesnt make sense...

I had this, found the paddock stand catching on the sprocket mount.

Turn your hooks the other way round.

I'm not sure what you mean...the stand is directly under the rear swing arm and not near the rear sprocket. I can move the wheel back and forth about 3 inches only. It seems lock something is definitely locking it from rotating the wheels more than 3 inches in either direction...

I'm open to any theories...

Chain/sprocket issues. Chain too loose? Sprockets worn?

When the bike is off the rear stand, I can move it back and forth and ride it without problems. It's so weird b/c its like the rear wheel is locked once its off the ground.

I'm going to throw this out there but you dont have it in gear do you? And when you are pushing it off the stand holding in the clutch. Not trying to be a jerk sometimes its just a doh moment. Also I've put mine on the stands and started to roll it and hit the nuts that hold the rear sprocket on even though I had the stand what I thought was way forward.

I'm with the crowd saying the rungs on the stand are hitting the nuts around your rear sprocket. Look where the rung is on your swingarm when the bike is lifted, turn the rim and see if your rung impacts the sprocket nuts. If it's impacting there than move it forward or back further on the swingarm to miss the nuts.

I nominate myself (and probably others here as well) to receive the "DUMB ASS" of the month award to myself...

It was the pads that are used to lift the swing arm was hitting the sprocket nuts...
