Post by loki32687 »

Just curious, since I have a friend who does anodizing, what parts(if any) on a stock FZR are aluminum?

Thanks.

hi,
since you do not state model or year of FZR I suggest you use a magnet to find out what part is made of alloy or steel

US model, 1989 FZR600.

not much is aluminum, but a magnet is the best way, if it sticks, its steel. if not, its aluminum....or plastic!
I did that.

Except for stainless. Higher grades will be non-magnetic or have such a minimal attraction you can mistake it.

All the engine covers, rearsets, heel guards, pegs, levers, clutch perch, wheels, carb bodies and lower fork tubes. That's pretty much the list.

Nate,
not much high grade stainless steel on the FZR unless you have one of my custom Rad shields OR chain guards LoL

Keeping in mind a lot of those parts are cast aluminum and tend to look like complete crap when anodized.
