lowering bike

alright i need to lower my bike at least 2 inches i see on e-bay there is a lowering kit which is two bars with 3 holes to adjust high 1 is stock one is 1.5" drop and oe 3" drop.....if i buy this will there be anything else i need to lower the rear down some? or does anyone know a good kit out there..i have a 1989 fzr 600. thank you.

Reelrazor has an even better kit than that. I know nothing about the one on ebay, and I haven't used his (yet) but I know his is way better.

Drop the forks through the triples...

careful when you are lowering through the triples, as once you turn the bolts enough it will slide pretty quick, just make sure you keep enough tension on the clamp to have it slide slow.
The lowering links on ebay are fine, you will just replace your stock ones with the ebay ones. 2 bolts underneath, you will see. you might want to have a friend there to hold up the rear of the bike as once you pull the bolts the backend is going to drop. otherwise it is an easy installation.
Reelrazors are very nice also, and they let you adjust the height. not sure the exact measurements, but i'm sure he has them.

I had them and didn't really like them. I'm buying the reelrazor ones now. The ebay ones are ok. On mine, one side of the bolt (where the dogbones attached to) didn't fit. I ended up cutting off one of holes to make it fit properly. I would suggest save your money from the ebays one and buy the adjustable ones from reelrazor.

Hi,
the Ebay 3 hole ones leave a lot to be desired ie not enough "meat" between holes for safety .
I have ReelRazor dog bones on mine and they passed our state inspection ( MOT ) where as the 3 holes did not !

If you lower the back 2" then the front should be lowered equally or the bike's handling is SEVERELY compromised around town in particular.

So theres no modding the forks or fitting shorter forks to lower the front? Sliding them through the triples is the ONLY way?

I'm certain for a couple thousand you can send them to RaceTech and they'll shorten them for ya.

How much are you looking to shorten them?

guys was there not some discussion on using R6 or R1 forks which for the standard set up bike too short for the FZR?
I know ducati are way too short (I had a spare set of Duc USD fully adjustable forks & trees and I had to lose that idea )

every time i tried to lower my fzr the rear tire bottoms out... i'm only 130-ish 140 on a wet day... maybe my shock needs to be rebuilt? but thats my experience with lowering.

It's a very soft suspension to begin with. Using an updated R6 shock would probably help. I do believe that ReelRazor still sells the R6 shock kit.
