Heyyo,
So I have a gas cap with mad-rusty allen-key bolts. I've tried to undo all the allen keys, but it seems like half of them are dummies. I know there's 3-4 to remove the tank cover (did it a while ago) but is there any way to remove all the allen key bolts and replace them with new a pretty ones?
Otherwise, is it possible to just replace the whole gascap? I've found a few online, but they'd require to have the ignition re-keyed, or they don't have a locking mechanism at all (which is nice to have)

Re: Gas Cap replacement
You can always replace it with a key less gas cap. Lots of them on ebay and on the online parts stores.

Re: Gas Cap replacement
you need to ring around it from what it sounds like, the allen bolts really arent that expensive from bikebandit. They're less than 5 dollars a piece, the ring itself is 75.00 according to their website. The cap is considered a different part and if you want locking oem is all I found when I replaced mine a few weeks ago but I got lucky and found one still in the packaging on ebay for a fraction of the price. I just carry more than one key, no need to get the ignition redone unless it's that important to you
Re: Gas Cap replacement
There's 2 that will unbolt the tank cover/gas-ring assembly from the gas tank. The ones at 5 o'clock & 7 o'clock (roughly if you're sitting on the seat looking at the ring) are the 2 to loosen when you remove the tank cover. If you finish the process by removing the remaining screws holding the tank cover the the bike, then flip the cover over, you'll see that the remaining allen screws are just dummy screws. I believe it's a 10mm nut on the backside. Just undo those, go to a local hardware store, find some that work and replace. Otherwise, yeah, you can replace the ring and not need the gas cap at all..
I've got one for sale if you need it..

Re: Gas Cap replacement
awesome! thanks for the tip.
There's a huge fastener store in my city that i'll hit up on the weekend. The actual plate cap is fine - it's really just the allen bolts that are rusted to shit. I'll polish up the cap and put it all back together.
Think i'll put the fairings back on tomorrow too - complete the whole bike and make it pretty
