still running rich
My bike is running awesome and has great performance...and yet...
my nice clean exhaust I just put on is now coated with a nice layer of black crap.
I have my mixture screws set at 1 1/2 turns out. people usually have theres at 2 or 2 1/2.
my needle clip is set on the first setting from the top.
should I move it to the second notch and start from there?
I just dont see how im still running rich

Re: still running rich
Have you got any jet change? If the jets are bigger, then the rich running it's logical. If you rise the needles (ie 2nd position or more) you'll ger richer running. What do you mean whaen you say rich??? What is your midlle fuel consumption?
THE COST OF YOUR HELMET, IT DEPENTS ON HOW MUCH EXPENSIVE YOU THINK YOUR HEAD IS.
Re: still running rich
Replacing the emulsion tubes made a huge difference on my fizz. Mine would run rich no matter what setting I used.

Re: still running rich
its been running rich since I got it.
I checked my emulsion tubes just about 2 months ago and no wear.

You may need to resynch. I'd start there

+1, I Looked at mine a dozen times and they looked fine. Darrin finally convinced me to replace them. They seem to wear out after about 12k miles.haunter wrote:its pretty hard to eyeball emulsion tube wear

I actually did more than just eyeball
I used a magnifying glass and also took up close pics of them and blew them up on my computer to check for wear.
i think maybe I could use individual pod filters or dual filter and this would bring better air flow and my richness will subside.
I only have a k&n drop in filter.

Re: still running rich
(Someone correct me if I'm wrong) As the tubes wear they enlarge internally, allowing more fuel to flow around the needle and creating the rich condition that we know and love.deathcomesarippin wrote:im just a noob, but I dunno could be wrong (most of the time haha) but I though if the emulsion tubes where bad it could lean it out instead of it going rich?

Re: still running rich
Hey Shredex,
You may want to double-check your float height.
*EDIT* Oh, and don't switch to pods just to try and rectify a richness problems. You'd be opening up another can of worms there.

Re: still running rich
"first setting from the top"
"1 &1/2 turns out"
And: "rich"
= does not compute
at least without what someone else here suggested...check float heights and most likely lower them a little
