01 R6 factory exhaust on a 94 fzr

Post by jams »

I have a 94 fzr 600 and found a 01 R6 factory exhaust for cheap. The exhaust includes the header and pipe. Would this stuff fit onto my bike and would I notice any type of gains. As far as I know the FZR isnt jetted. Thank you

With a little fab work it will work, but I dont think it will add any significant power. Maybe if you do surgery and repack it and cut it down a bit. Just the can that is. With Full modded exhaust yes, as described below.

Oh the header will add some HP. It's larger than the stock FZR header and it's a 4-2-1 system. I sell modified R6 headers that will bolt right up to the FZR motor. The can won't really do much except add a different tone.

So how much work would need to be done to get the header to fit and would the carbs need to be jetted.

The carbs will not need to be re-jetted.

If I remember right, any mods to a carb'd sytem, have to tune the carbs to the new settings, even if you don't re-jet them. Meaning you could probably adjust your fuel mixture screws a little for the decreased backpressure, though I don't entirely know, as I haven't messed with tuning my carbs too much yet.

The carbs WILL have to be rejetted or jetted if they aren't. The R6 header mod is basically adding an aftermarket full exhaust system to the fizz. That kind of breathing increase will require some carb work.

The tubes need to be spread to fit the fzr head. There is cutting/grinding and welding involved. Not hard if you have a spare head to mock it up on. Then you have to weld spacers inbetween the tubes to keep them spread.
