I say go this route

I haven't heard very many good things about that kit. The quality isn't the best and things like that. A lot of people have the tail conversion and that looks cool. That's 90ca18det's bike above it once had the whole kit on it and it looks much better the way it is now.

I say do something original. Get in touch with your inner nonconformist. Unleash him on the bike.

It's just that ever R6/R1 on the road looks the same. Why try and join that crowd? You don't have to be flashy to stand out. That's my my2cents

I have this entire kit from airtech. I can send you pics of whatever you need.

1. The fiberglass is thin and very uneven
2. Whoever finished sanding mine at airtech should get some glasses
3. the few mounts that they do put in there for you are slightly off and prone to break due to thin glass.
3. The headlight they come with is an aircraft marker light and an odd size and you wont be able to ride at night with only that light (at least I couldnt) nor could I find a replacement locally. (I cut the back out of the light with a diamond blade and jbwelded one of those fake HID blue car halogens
4. I'm selling mine off this winter if you want to hold out and spend half of what they want.

I bought my bike with the kit on already but if I had spent the 900ish that a new kit cost and gotten what I have I would have been so pissed off it wouldnt have been funny

I started off with the airtech kit on my bike and for a while it was okay.If you do get the kit be forewarned that the single head lamp sucks badly. That is one of the main reasons that I went with the 2001 R1 front fairing. You will also have a good many fitment issues(it is not as easy as the airtech website makes it out to be). Also it tends to spiderweb the gelcoat very easy.I am not trying to steer you away from it,just letting you know what I found with mine.

I had the Airtech Tail , Rear wheel hugger and front fender , my tail is cracked in more then 5 places , my rear wheel hugger has help up and my front fender looked to nice after i got it painted that i only rode on it like couple miles and took it off , was afraid it would crack also ...
Me personally if i knew then what i know now i would have gone with this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Ac ... 06.c0.m245

and just made my mounts as i went along , bought the headlights and bam probably wouldnt spend 900 on a kit , but you can source everything cheaper honestly
just have to keep an eye out and have PLENTY of time ..goodluck

That is exactly what I did.I bought the R1 fairing piece by piece and then assembled it all.

the tail is fine. I would not recomend any of the other parts, but your better off paying $50 for a new r6 tail fairing than $200 for the airtech

i doubt you can find a new R6 tail fairing for $50 , unless it's Rashed , Scratched, or Cracked and then you still have to buy the tailight and seat but for a pretty much str8 swap for somone who's less inclined i think the airtech tail is perfect swap out just a lil bit outdated .. you would think the people at airtech or other companys would use their heads and mold another one-off tail

I wish i knew how todo it , i would be mass producing it and sellin to every fzr owner thats looking to modify the rear end
