FZR 1000 back to life with a couple ?'s

Post by psych119 »

I just got an 1988 FZR 1000 that was sitting for 10 years. I have done everything to get it back on the road and through inspection I've been riding it on the strreet for the last 2 weeks. Now that I have all the major things sorted out i have a question about 2 parts I can't find.

1. Fuel petcock rebuild for the fairing/frame mounted petcock. Since my bike was sitting for so long the petcock leaks in every position except reserve. Anyone know where i can find a oring kit rebuild kits for it?

2. I was given a fox twin clicker shock with the bike. I do not have idea when the shock oil was last serviced. Does anyone know where i can find a o-ring kit for the shock so i can put some fresh oil in it? It doesn't leak and works fine but since i'm changing the fork oil etc to give the bike a better ride y not do the shock oil before install.

I would imagine that any Fox shock dealer (motocross , snowmobile) would be able to get the parts from Fox. You can also try Fox direct.

you could ditch that petcock on the side there

most of those 87-88 750/1k's dont really have reserve anyways, they are notorious for the tube breaking off the regular side so it sucks gas all the way to the bottom. you just have to be more careful about gas then :deal:

Hi Tony,

To service your twin clicker we would just need to gather some info from you set you up in our system. Have your shock shipped to our factory there will be about a 48 hr turn around. Our service tech will rebuild your shock and get you back to new condition. This will include a estimated charge of about $165.00 unless our tech finds parts that may need to be replaced.

Thank you,
