you may well be right IF it is a modern finned variety with insufficient airflow OR heatsink shield.
Ipaced mine with a thin layer of heat sink paste(computer) and a thin metal shim of alloy plate again with paste to a bigger mounting plate of alloy. & the fins in the air flow direction (NOT in convection flow )

Here in Romania, they can be seen pretty often on the roads. I can allmost say that there are more cyclops headlight 600s than dual headlight ones, here in Romania.

Wherever you decide to relocate it. Things to consider.
1. Heat dissipation, I used the stock aluminium back plate, is that stock? it's what was on my old VR. The bracket i made is as large as possible, so as not to interfere with other components (my case tank/harness) the material is 3mm thick stainless steel. Don't earth the VR (black wire) on the bracket, otherwise the wire will also get hot.
2. Location, protected from rain/water, mud or any other debris (i don't know where the "the sneaky spot under my tail" is)

Hi George, Just reading the thread and noticed you know someone who knows how to get the casing off the TCI (without butchering it in the process). Could you kindly ask him the procedure?
DonTZ125 was the member.. He is active on the board you can send him a PM. Also, Don and george are setting up an exchange program to repair these.. might take them some time to get the process in place.
Heh - don't credit me with TOO much wisdom. Trifgeorge was the fellow who had his apart for the Wiki photos. He says a previous owner opened it, and there was a fair bit of damage. Opening these toys is quite possibly the most difficult thing I'm going to have to figure out with this project.
Worse comes to worst, I may have to carve them open, then re-seal them to return them to service - something I hope to avoid...

I plan to monitor mine with the IR temp gun.

Anyone know safe a working temp for the VR?
this is the sneaky undertail spot. I know I gotta rotate it 90 degrees. Not much room with the late model r6 tails.
