Here is what i have learned so far about swaps that i have started.
I bought a whole rear end off of a 1992 FZR 1000.
For the most part it is a pretty straight forward swap.
Except for the main pivot bolt.
The Genesis pivot bolt is 16mm od. The Exup swing arm pivot bolt is 20mm OD
The Exup spindle that sits in the bearing is also large OD then the Genesis
There were no bearing that i could easily find that would allow for use of the genesis spindle.
So to fix the problem you have a couple of choices.
Machine the frame to except the 20mm bolt and machine the area where the bolt sits to allow room for a 27mm socket,
Or turn a spacer for the 16mm bolt to fit in the 20mm exup spindle. This this is the route i went with since it keeps the frame stock and was relatively cheap at a local machine shop.

Reserved for Tail Swap.

I have purchased a whole subframe off of a 2001 R6 however contrary to what i have read on hear it is far from a easy swap and will require heavy subrame modification to fit the genesis frame.

Any input or help hear would be great.

Last set of questions are about the engine and performance.

Currently it is more or less stock.

I plan to at the minimum do
- Exhaust
- Jet Kit
- Intake options.

Possibles
- Better carbs? (Which ones fit without too much headache)
- Cams - (i have read yzf 750 cams are a cheap improvement but would love any suggestions)
- Any ignitions options.

Thanks Guys!

Hello there. I am curious why you decided to swap the rear swingarm? Looking forward to your build. I have an 87 1000. looks rough but running. Not sure which direction to take it.

I personally think you should leave the carbs and intake system alone. (maybe just a freshen up in the carbs)
You will spend a whole lot ov moneys on new flatslides for very little gain and in some cases loss. Unless you are prepared to do heaps of work tuning the carbs.
New can is good for loosing weight only. Maybe the cam is a good idea but I don't know myself.
The three best improvements I did to mine was,R1 calipers with new braided lines, emulators and stiffer springs on front and ohlins shock at rear. (in that order).
If you want too chase big power you probably should have started with a different bike (money wise)
Have fun.

So i can run a 17" rear wheel.

What all did you have to change for the r1 calipers and what year did you use?

I did find some bad news when i went into the engine. The motor had a nasty tick and turns out one of the crank teeth is chipped pretty bad. I did get lucky and find a low miles crank in great condition and a set of the R1029 pistons.
I also spoke with kurt at Jordan engineering and he is extremely knowledge about these bikes and engines. He said the best engine upgrades are
- exup pistons and rods. The center valve recess does have to be open up by .005 because of the change in valve angle. It will also run 13:1 compression.
- YZF750 cams - Longer duration helps get fuel in for the larger bore and compression.
- Pod filters believe it or not with dyno 3 jet kit. He also recommended stock carbs.

Thanks koledracer for the picture updates. The rear swingarm looks really good there. Were there any shock mods needed for the swap?

Too much beer and things stuffed my memory. My calipers were 2006 R6 I think but many years fit (theyre all the same) 2002 -2006 R1 or R6 all work?? Search WIKI or someone else will pipe up for exact information. Easy, bolt straight on. Most difficult thing is bleeding the brakes. I had a right prick of a time getting them right. Took me months!
Also, Be very weary of 13:1 comp ratio. I don't actually know for sure, but just do your research, cos I remember reading about continuously blowing head gaskets with the high comp. If your gonna go down that road apparently the clutches are weak so you need a billet clutch more $$$ And the 2nd gear problem, they all have it.
Mine did. That's why I kept mine stock.

Nothing on the shock its self other then finding a place for the reservoir.
I did have to make the space for the pivot though. - Also if anyone needs a good 87-88 swing arm/shock/linkage let me know.

Haha understand that. Love the paint on yours btw.
I know the clutch can be an issue for sure just going to have to be careful off the line or doing hard drops for now.
The wiesco kit is 12:1 i believe so it should be okay with the head gasket but we will see.

Does anyone know which revbox i can use to raise the redline some?

Looks bloody good what you've done so far.
Don't want to sound pessimistic, just trying to help, maybe you should consider a Yamaha head gasket?
I told myself if I were to do it again I would use only Yamaha head gasket. I purchased one of the Italian gasket kits (Ethena I think) more expensive than the polish ones on ebay. And although the quality looked fine, I threw away most of the O-rings as they were just wrong size. And one layer of the head gasket had a tiny part of the corner folded over! I unfolded it and used it (unlike me) It hasn't leaked yet. But ive read bad things about repop head gaskets. Take a chance, up too you.
The valve seals that came were nice wee copper bodied ones though. I think if you need valve seals, the repop kits are worth it. Just maybe go Yamaha head gasket for
piece of mind.
Good luck.
