I need some help with my pick up and coil.
Coil plug test
Coil plug ( bike side)
Should I get a reading when I ground to the motor?

Don TZ is yer man for lec trickery !
Surprised he has not pounced on this topic .!

Re: Stator and pick-up help!
Please give us a clue! Why are you testing the stator windings, what problems are you having?
BTW you haven't tested the pick up coils resistance, the pick up coil has a two pin connector that comes out of the stator cover, factory spec for the pick up coil is 80-120 ohms

Re: Stator and pick-up help!
The pick up has no reading so I know that's bad. But the reading when I touch the block is what has me clueless.
And I'm not sure if the coil is good or not
The reason I'm testing is no spark and I have checked and changed everything else.

Re: Stator and pick-up help!
You're reading the resistance through the VRR to ground. The fact that you're seeing 3.86MOhm through 'OFF' SCRs is not a bad thing, and indicative of the sensitivity and precision of your multimeter.
You have a no-spark condition and a bad pick-up coil. Next question ...

Re: Stator and pick-up help!
What do u mean "a no spark condition and a bad pick-up coil"
The pick up is not the cause of no spark?
I have done the "no spark? Now what" page and checked everything else..

Re: Stator and pick-up help!
If the pick-up coil is bad, the TCI doesn't know if the crank is turning, and so doesn't fire the coils.

It's far from me to advise you Don, But maybe the above paragraph should be updated so as to make your excellent write up even better.Unplug the left 4-pin or 8-pin connector, if present. Check for resistance between the top-right and top-second-from-right (for 8-pin connector, looking at pins, wires away), between top-right and top-left (for 4-pin), and between bottom 3rd from left and 4th from left (13-pin connector, looking at pins, wires away). This is from the crank signal pick-up coil; wire colors are usually White/Red & White/Black. (80-120 ohms). Inspect and correct wiring if no continuity.
When testing the pick up coil in a "No Spark Scenario" If you get a reading between 80-120 Ohms the coil could still be the culprit. Both of the pick up coils wires SHOULD be tested for continuity to ground, if a reading is obtained then the pick up coils is faulty and WILL cause a no spark scenario..

Like Don said your faulty "pick up coil" WILL cause a no spark scenario. The Stator Windings and the VRR merely charge the battery. Unfortunately Yamaha don't sell the pick up coil separately, They sell the Stator and Pick Up Coil as a package.
That said your pick up coil if showing infinite ohms (No continuity) could have dry solder joints, try re-soldering both of the joints.
I admire your enthusiasm, you done your homework before you posted
Good Luck
