87-88 fzr1000 cdi

Post by nickmell »

I bought a basket case 88 fzr1000 and Thought Everything was there until I noticed it was missing the cdi. Cdis for these years are expensive and hard to find so I was wondering if there are any other options or if anyone has one for sale? Thank you.

I would be willing to switch wire harnesses if needed also this one is pretty hacked up so if switching to a different year harness and cdi will work I can do that. I found fz750s used the tid14-49 box also but the bottom numbers are different would that be useable?

That TCI unit appears specific to the 87/89 pre Exup Genesis 1000.

From the application list; it will only operate that model and vice/versa.

Someone may have a used item in US.
They appear quite expensive in UK compared to the later models.

Ebay Germany may be a good searching place.
I have no translater on my computer but this may be of assistance;

That box on the German eBay site is the same box used for the US model.

I believe all 87/88 (2GH) boxes are identical worldwide.
They are scarce, hence expensive in UK at present; that does not mean they will be permanently !
Germany has a few at the 90 euro rate.
It will depend if they are prepared to ship to USA.

Did V&H manufacture a "power pak " for the 1000 Genesis ?
Yes; FZR1000 87-88 (ALL) 22354

Perhaps Ignitech supply a programmable unit ?
Yes they do; if you can decipher their website.
