Hi everyone
Brand new here, and new to the fzr. Was a 91 gixxer 11 guy, had kid, sold it. Bought a 98 vfr, had kid, sold it. Kids are bigger, and found a 91 fzr1000. Single owner, never in rain, never down, garage kept, absolutely showroom. Bone stock save for a V&H can, and a K&N insert. Bike was garage kept, but not ridden since 02. Here's the issue. Rode it back home, about 80k. Carbs were clearly an issue. Was running lean and flat at WOT. took it in for service at the Yamaha dealer, as I've got to buddies there Carbs cleaned, new fuel pump, apparently guy says stuck ring? Ran ring free thru fuel. Got bike back 2 days ago, expecting it to be better. It's worse. Starts fine, idle hangs at 2k after warming, but....anything past 1/4 throttle, and I may as well be sitting on a ysr50. Sounds like everything I've read leads to tubes, but worn tubes make you rich? 25xxxK on the bike. Sat for a dozen years tho. Exup servo is working. It's definitely running lean now. I can feel the heat. Vacuum leak, issue at the slides?
Had the bike for a month. Have ridden it for an hour . Maybe my living room is the best place for it
New here...carb help?

Re: New here...carb help?
First things I would check is that the airbox is still sealed to the carbs and that the head to carb rubbers have no cracks.
Both are notorious causes for a weak mixture.

K. I'll have a look. The only rubbers I didn't check when I yanked them out were the head-carb ones. I was thinking that the diaphragm springs could be an issue ? But only 25000kms, and siting for 10 years, they wouldn't go stiff on me. I'd think they'd be bagged out. Miles seem too low for valve issues ( Yamaha says 42k?).
If it's the rubbers, I'm gonna be furious with the shop. 1350$ cDN for the bike to be even leaner, and running even worse Lol. I coulda lived with choke on riding till I broke it ....
Thank you for the reply tho. This is a great place to talk to those who know ...

Hi all
Ends up, after only 1 more day of waiting, the diaphragms on 1 and 4 were not seated correctly. Among a couple other things. It's ready to go. After sitting over 10y, I'm sure there's still some ghosts to come out, but at least I won't blow it up from being too lean.
Thanks willandrip...
Now if I could only figure out how to post a pic...
