body kits/fairings
Does anyone know where I could buy a used front fairing and windscreen or buy a cheap one??
Re: body kits/fairings
ebay or for sale section. Unless you are good with body work I'd stay away aftermarket fairings as invariably they have fitment issues. I've personally had bad luck with Maier's products.

Airtech seems to be a good place and if you were looking to do a conversion to like an r1 style they have the whole kit and its specifically designed for the fzr you do have to drill the holes for it but everything should fit but its not used just something to think about

It doesn't quite work that way. Airtech has made so many kits from that mold that anything made these days requires a huge amount of work to make fit. I would bet the $600 shipped kits from China would fit better if they made one for the FZR.Valhalla_fzr96 wrote:Airtech seems to be a good place and if you were looking to do a conversion to like an r1 style they have the whole kit and its specifically designed for the fzr you do have to drill the holes for it but everything should fit but its not used just something to think about
Maier fairings do suck when it comes to fit. Sharkskinz are nice as are Beasley but both are on the expensive side.

I haven't used them I just read the site and saw a few forums people were saying they were good. Have you tried one yet? I mean it would be nice if someone that has would comment on this. If you have the info would be grateful as I was tempted myself to look into this but if it is easier to just get a subframe and a real tail from an r6 or something I will go that route.
Re: body kits/fairings
I had a kit and sold it. I've also known people that spent forever to get it right. Then the headlight sucks and you can only get it from airtech, same as the windscreen. Those are usually a 3 week or longer wait. If you're just going to do the tail, it's not bad. It's the body kit that is a bitch. I still have the front fender and rear hugger I'm trying to sell.
Doing a whole subframe swap is not as simple as just getting a subframe and real tail btw. There is a lot of work involved.

I know the subframe swap sucks I did it on my cbr due to the dumb ass previous owner chopping the original to make a bobber. I can weld and I know it takes some adjusting and some wiring and such but it seems a hell of alot easier than trying to make fiberglass or plastic fit something its not 100% molded to fit correctly and I don't plan on the whole kit or anything just the tail but their idea seems great for it all to fit the fzr subframe but look like an r1 tail and keep all the rest of the fzr goodies without much adjustment.
