The stator cover doesn't have a gasket; it's a dry environment. The engine oil is held back (you hope) by the crank seal.
If you're looking for a complete overhaul / replacement, I can provide a plug-in harness from the stator connector to the VRR. The VRR ground will be the usual 36" 12ga black wire to bolt to the engine; there will also be a 24" 12ga red wire with mating connectors to plug into the white single-pole connectors near the battery. Cost would be $60 + 15 shipping; I need to bring some of this in from Japan, so allow 3-4 weeks for delivery. Installation would be fairly plug-and-play; the ground wire has to be bolted to the engine, and the existing stator plug and VRR terminals should be clipped and taped off.
There have been several incidences where someone installs a new "FZR" stator, but can't get it to actually start. Annoyingly, many of these items are actually YZF units; functionally identical and physically interchangeable, but the crank pickup sensor wires are swapped. Be prepared to reverse those two wires. If you order the stator to VRR harness, I will include a little 'corrector' cross-over cable.
If you're in the mood for DIY and short on $$, clip the slagged stator connector off the harness back to fresh wire, then strip the ends about 1/4". Check for continuity to the VRR terminals. If the actual wires are still good, you can just replace the connector.

Re: Not charging properly
Thanks Don that's exactly what I was looking for!. I'm going to strip those wires and test them first and rewire up that new connector for the time being and see if that takes care of it. Otherwise I'll keep your other options in mind. I hope the stator I got is correct!
Re: Not charging properly
Ok so I got that connector in the mail (ordered two in case I screwed it up) and also wired up a new ground straight to the engine block from the negative pin on the VRR. Take a look at the pics and let me know if you have an issue with anything? I started up the bike and I'm now at 13.8V at 3K RPM. A little on the low side of OK, but still OK. Should I be satisfied with this number? I'm pretty happy I was able to trace down the problem and see some tangible results. Couldn't have done it without your help! Finished it up last night and I was able to run down the street a few miles today to shake off the cobwebs. It was about 30 degrees so it was a quick ride! The black wire is the OEM ground and the green one is the new ground from the VRR.
Re: Not charging properly
13.8 is good enough to charge the battery while running, so you're good!
