Need help bike wont start!!
Hello all, i got a 92 fzr 600r. I just replaced the stator and pick ups. ( i wasnt getting spark). Now i get spark but the bike wont fire up. It pops and back fires alittle but thats it. It has the ford coil pack conversion on it. ( was like that when i bought it a few months ago). Plug wires could b outta place but i dont think so. Still possible though. The plugs are decent, carbs are clean. Fuel pump is working and all fuses are good. Any sugestions??
Thanks,Brian
Thanks,Brian

Make sure the Orange wire from the TCI goes to cyls 1&4; the Grey wire goes to 2&3.
Where did you get the stator and pickup? Was it used FZR, used YZF, new "FZR"? Most aftermarket "FZR" sets are actually YZF - and the pickup wires are backwards to what a FZR wants!

Its new from race tech electric. I read there site and they said to switch the 2 wires and i did with no luck. I took a better look at the plugs tonight. They look fouled (very black). Checked for spark at the plug and they do spark. Gonna change them but they ran b4 the pick ups went out

Dirty carbs. Clean them. Meticulously. I don't care if it fired up before. If you had old gas sitting in it and it sat before that, there was buildup somewhere. Starting it up and running it most likely dislodged something somewhere and now it's stuck in a jet tower or blocking a small orifice. It doesn't take much.Bmansfzr600 wrote:Ok , update. If that isn't the case, check the fuel filter, any kinks in the lines, make sure the battery is at 100%. Check that the air box is firmly affixed to the carbs. Only need fuel, air and spark to get it running and you say you have spark, air is pretty simple, so fuel is left.

The fuel was in the tank and tank was off the bike while its been down. The carbs have been empty. And were gone thru recently. I will clean them again tho. Also fuel filter is brand new. Put it on last week. Thanks for the suggestions and help. Also i noticed that u (thatkid) run the ford coil pack. How do you have the spark plug wires ran? Just curious. Thanks, brian

Honestly couldn't tell you. I don't have the bike anymore and I put the ford pack in about 5 years ago.

Success!!!! She lives!!! Took her awhile to get her to kick over but she finally did. Runs ok but has a slight miss when she gets warm and are cruisin. Im thinkin i got a bad plug wire or fouled plug. If you get on it it comes to life. Any suggestions?? Thanks, brian
