Is this the stock rear brake?
I'm looking at doing brake pads and I was wondering if this is the stock caliper. The PO replaced the front with R6 brakes but didn't say anything about the rear.

Re: Is this the stock rear brake?
looks stock to me.

Definitely stock.
Re: Is this the stock rear brake?
Are sintered brake pads ok to use? Denniskirk.com has an omminous sounding warning on the product page.

The duct tape is a nice touch. Looks like you're also missing the spring clamps...

Sintered pads are both fine and recommended.

http://www.powersportspro.com/pages/par ... amaha.aspx <--- put in your bike year and model and look under "REAR BRAKE CALIPER" listing, it has a drawing, part numbers and prices.
Wow you guys have sharp eyes, I didn't even notice that, I guess I was busy looking at the duct tape, well, you have to admit, at least he was covering them with something.
Anyway, that link above....... ragedigital is talking about part # 7. Also if you don't have it part # 11 is the black cover.
Also, if you have time / money ..... consider upgrading to braided steel brake lines. Spiegler is very good but expensive. I think either Galfer or Russell also makes compatible brake lines. The stock rubber ones get crummy and rotted after a while, plus the brake fluid in them can go bad easier.
At the minimum bleed the brakes and put new (MOTUL RF600) DOT 4 brake fluid in there. Make sure it's DOT 4.
Woops, I almost thought you were a new member. You already know all this stuff. (Friday nite insomnia again)
Rock on Tommy!
Oh, i used the EBC HH pads from Dennis Kirk, they're really nice and strong. No problems.

Re: Is this the stock rear brake?
I'm hoping he took the photo after he took the cover and spring clamps off to check the brake pads...I wouldn't think he'd be riding around like that
