ok with that said the crank i am looking at looking seems like it might have had recent machine work. so if i need new bearings...i am going to try plastigauge as has been suggested in another thread does any one know where i might be able to get a set. i looked on the site where i order all of my other parts from and they have been "discontinued" i am kinda leery about rebuilding the top end and raising compression and not doing anything to the bottom

Any car shop, Canadian Tire, NAPA should carry it.

Sorry was that about the plastigauge or for the bearings. I knew I could get plastigauge at pretty much any automotive shop but as far as the bearings go that's where I am lost. Its not like it is a Chevy 350 and as common as dirt Yamaha quit making these bikes almost 20 years ago so support isn't exactly a finger tip away.

The bearings are still widely available at any Yamaha dealership. Partzilla is probably your most economical choice, even with shipping.

Partzilla is who I have went through for my clutch rebuild kit can chain tensioner gasket, head gasket, piston rings, valve cover gasket, wrist pin clips and can chain. Still have to get the rest of the engine gaskets and new chain and sprockets but I have looked on there and they say that the main journal bearings have been discontinued they have rod bearings but not main bearings. It sucks cause they have excellent service and they deliver pretty quick. My last order was just over $300 and the parts were at my buddy's house within 4 days.

They haven't updated their parts catalogue; the 1WG p/n used on the FZR400 & 600 has been superseded by the 4TV p/n used on the YZF600. 4TV-11416-00-00 (blue), -10-00 (black), -20-00 (brown), -30-00 (green) are $6.04 per half; -40-00 (yellow) and -50-00 (pink) are $5.19 per half.

i have talked to the guy with the the crank for sale he said he would let the bearings go with the crank also let the journal bearings go with it. if i get the crank and the bearings to match would that work with my lower end or is the color code for my case and crank match?
