Re: FZR 600-Suddenly wont start,backfiring??

Post by reelrazor »

Im thinking that running the fuel tank empty pulled crap (water/dirt/debris) into the carbs.

The plugs are fouled with this unable to burn mixture of nastiness. The cylinders are as well from repeated attempts to start the engine.

Clean tank, filter and carbs(physically remove them and clean them inside and out- yes, all THREE things) . While doing so have the spark plugs out and the cylinders fogged with starting fluid (ether). Let the cylinders air out while doing the other work.

NEW fuel, NEW plugs (NOT cleaned ones). FULLY charged battery

If this advice is followed, the bike should start.

Wow thanks sounds good! Gotta start working with it tomorrow:) :tks:

But why it didn't start with new plugs and with starter fluid?

it wouldn't start because water, bad, gas, and other junk like reel razor said was already inside the carbs. therefore started fluid couldn't mix well or get past it to reach the cylinders.

Well now the carbs are cleaned, new gas, new plugs and also checked the tank but it was clean. I tried using motor starter and without but no signs of life.. Same little sound that sounds it almost starting but no.

But what i discovered was that it backfires thru carburator/air filter, why's that? Valves? :headscratch:

I remembered that it made same kind of thing after few days of use, not backfiring but did not start and just sounded like starting but not. But then it just suddenly started after few minutes of trying, but i noticed that were a power loss. But next time when i drove it was ok again.

Try putting those podt filters back on the carburetors. That might help out if nothing else seems to work then I'm pretty sure it is your valves

Have you checked your fuel filter yet? Did you check the gap on the spark plugs? The only thing I can hear in the video is the starter.
