Hey, I have a 94 fzr600, bought it from the original owner.
It has always been a CA bike.
I am not sure if the air cooler I speak of is on all fzr's or just CA bikes.
Along with that, If it is just a CA smog sort of part, would it be good to take it off?
Here are a couple links to show what I am referring to:

http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamah ... parts.html
Any input at all would be appriciated, thanks a bunch! (:
-Oh and sorry if this is a dumb question,
I tried searching the forum, and googling about it but found nothing.
Is the AIR COOLER optional??? Leave it? Take it off?

I'm not really familiar to what you are referring to, however, why do you want to remove it?

Almost looks like an oil air cooler.

It is the oil cooler; I have one fitted to my early 3HE 600 and also the SP 2TK 400. You have to get a spacer plate made up if you remove it so as the oil filter casing still seals.
I believe it was omitted on later models.
They do corrode due to placement.

Re: Is the AIR COOLER optional??? Leave it? Take it off?
That is not an oil cooler, but rather California-only smog controls for burning off HC in the header pipes. If you currently have it installed, you may as well leave it. If you need to remove it for any reason (working on the headers, removing the head), take it all out and plug the ports where the hoses connect to the exhausts. Leaving them open will lead to erratic running and possible damaged exhaust valves.

Re: Is the AIR COOLER optional??? Leave it? Take it off?
Well, I was somewhat convinced it was the oil cooler for a second, but being an addon for burning HC's is what I suspected.
I'll leave it if it doesn't rob power like a smog pump or something. Thanks for the info guys!

Re: Is the AIR COOLER optional??? Leave it? Take it off?
Although I live in Missouri, I had an Cali bike. I removed all of that stuff. There is even more under the fuel tank - evap canister and other stuff.
Unless it really bothers you or you're changing out the exhaust, it really isn't an issue.
If you pull it, then you will have to plug the holes in the head really well as Don stated.
