Clutch or jetting?

Post by JeCarter »

So when I'm full throttle around 5k it seems to kick into high or something. Almost like the clutch is slipping but it didn't start doing this until I changed my fuel filter. Any ideas?

Sounds like a jetting issue.

Stock airbox or pods?
Carb Jet Kit or Stock?

Stock air box and jet kit according to po. But when I cleaned the carbs the main jet screw said 107.5. Isn't that stock. I do have full v&h exhaust. Air/fuel screws 3 turns out.

Sounds like the area concerning the needle taper (see graphic below).

Assuming you have adjustable needles. You can try setting the clip down a notch (richer) to help with that transition point. (see attached)

I had my carbs off a million times, but once I got it right, it screamed!

After my ride it still a little noticeable. Maybe one more notch. It's now from 6k to 7k. Anything else it could be? It doesn't do it when I gradually get to 6 or 7k.

The starting point is 1 in from the rich end IIRC. I would start there. How many notches are on your needles?
