Front Fork Questions

Post by Thedude055 »

I am preparing to rebuild my forks after this rising season. I am up in the air as to what is the better plan for my bike. I am just putting a feeler out there to see what ideas there are. I seem the new valves and emulator setup and am interested in that. I am also interested in maybe a complete front swap. I have heard the easiest is a R1 with a new bearing kit. I don't know to much about this. That would be newer brakes and certainly better front shocks but more expensive i presume. Shoot me your ideas i guess. By the way i ride very aggressively and drive on a lot of rougher roads. Stock setup bottoms out all the time. I redid them stock last year and it didn't help none at all.
1993 FZR600 streetfighter (because all of the fairings were destroyed when I got it)
Picture is of the bike as i got It. I will get new ones on here when i am done.

The best and easiest thing you can do it put in emulators, change the fork oil and maybe put in a slightly heavier weight oil, and get the proper springs. The front of the FZR is notoriously under sprung.

Also, replace the rear shock. You have to balance the front and rear. ie: you shouldn't have a cake front end and a pudding rear end. There'a couple of ways to go on that. Check the wiki. I got Fox shock myself.
