Foot peg removal and compatible headlights?

Post by Street Fighter FZR »

Hi everyone, I am new to the bike world so excuse me if I sound like a newb. I am learning to ride so I just got this 94 FZR1000 for $400 and want to do a few minor things to it.

1) Anyone know how to remove the driver foot pegs? There's like a circle end pin with one end looking like a rivet and a circle washer instead of that "C" clip.

2)Also can the headlights be interchangeable with other year models?

I was wondering if I can use the 91-92 headlights instead because I like the 1 piece headlight look. I don't have farings on the bike.

1. The rivets have to be drilled / ground off; the replacement peg is bolted in place.

2. This answer is in two parts - the normal answer, and your specific case. The one-piece headlights have a different fairing upper (obviously) and fairing bracket, so aren't a simple swap - you have to exchange all three parts. Since you have no upper fairing and are presumably fabbing your own bracket, there really isn't much stopping you from swapping the headlights.

Thanks for your answer Don. Really appreciate it. I'll check with a bike shop to see if they have aftermarket pegs and the hardware to go with it. That sucks that the rivet needs to be drill/ground off scrapping the pin just to replace a foot peg. Don't know why they made it like that instead of like the ones I see on youtube videos where there is a "C" clip holding the pin in.

I may want to do the headlight swap in the future but for now I'll leave it the way it is.

I just replaced one of the coil pack today which was pretty easy to do. Waiting on my new battery and also need to get me those foot pegs and some sliders and bike should be ready to go.
