98 fzr tail light

Post by JB_fzr600 »

My tail light comes on. But when I'm riding it will not illuminate to signal that I'm stopping. Any suggestions?

When you apply the front brake, the rear brake, or either?

Neither front nor rear brake. The tail light stays one color.

Have you checked if the bulb is faulty?

Either the brake elements in both tail bulbs are burned out (it happens), both brake switches have failed (rare), or the rear brake switch is stuck in the ON position, and what you're actually seeing is the brake lights on at all times (REAL common).

Disconnect the rear switch; see if the tail lights dim. Confirm that the front brake switch activates the brakes. Clean, lube and adjust the rear switch.
