SHIMS
I have a 1988 fzr1000. The shims that came out of it are kind of like buckets so that they grab onto valve stems. I purchased shims online and they were completely flat? Am I missing something here or are they simply the wrong shims. If they are wrong where can I get those bucket style shims I have searched everywhere. HELP PLEASE!

Re: SHIMS
Hi,
It sounds like you have the wrong shims. They should be the bucket type shims.
You should be able to get the right shims from a yamaha stealership, or a site like powersportparts.net

Re: SHIMS
- the 87-88 used 1AA-12168/12169, while the 89+ used 1HX-12168/12169. I couldn't find a good pic, but the diagrams in the manuals show the 87-88 use a considerably taller shim.
1989 3LN1 FZR250R, currently stock.

Re: SHIMS
Guys,
check the engine number then ask a Stealership for the part numbers, year models are wrong most of the time ie a UK 92 is a US 91
You could always PM STIG on this list he has a number of 1K guys who know their stuff if he gets stuck.
