Slide and needle question

Post by tclayton9 »

When I took the needles out of the slides on my carbs, I had a feeling whoever treid to clean the carbs f#$## up. The jet needle tips( the pointed ends) were coming up through the base of the slides and the tips were coming through the emulsion tubes. But i seen a video on wiki on this site that showed the needles in an opposite direction. Is this correct?

Sounds like yours are set up properly if I'm reading you right.

Here's a pic to clarify:

Take a look at this thread on a carb rebuild:

and if you don't have a manual yet use some online parts catalogues for manufacturer's drawings as a reference (they're always good to use because you can expand the images to see the parts clearer than a normal manual):

"Carb cleaner".

$200 is not completely unreasonable; 3 hours to pull, strip, assemble, and re-install the carbs @ $65-70/hr = $195-210.

Thats what they were charging me with the carbs off of the bike. I did it myself and didnt take me more than 2 hours. Whoever had the carbs before me cleaned the carbs badly and o-rings were missing and gaskets torn.
