Fizzy finally arrived
whoo-hoo , finally arrived to her new home
2 owners - second one being a mate of the first one, VIN plate dated 10/1990, not firstly sold until 9/92 and with 9247 original kays .....37 of them done my me today riding her back to my place.
All stock - will fix that in due course.
observation rides quite well with a little wobbly compared to my others (alas the 749 has been sold) the other is my sport classic 1000, thats staying.
engine still feels tight and pull quite strong to around 10k rpm, but just took it easy today.
gear box not too bad with the usuall yamaha clunk from first to second
back brakes not to bad , but fronts bit average, lot of lever travel (almost back to the bars) before she brakes - new fluid time i think - ill get some braided lines anyhow.
handles pretty but needs a fair tug on the clipons to get her over.
future mods - exhaust, k+n, braided lines and look at sorting the suspension.
expect lots of questions in due course.
cheers dave

Re: Fizzy finally arrived
Damn bro nice score there, there are still a few pristine ones around eh.? In addition to the mods you have planned I would change out the voltage regulator as soon as you can for the YZF or +'95 FZR mdoel's VR. No sense in destroying your electronics on such a nice bike.
Re: Fizzy finally arrived
nice!
love that sport classic too, too bad I am too small to ride them

Re: Fizzy finally arrived
took her for another more lengthy spin , chucked a bottle of Wynns petrol treatment an put some air in the tyres ...hey that's much better in the handling department.
motor pulls very cleanly all the way to near the redline, no signs of breakdown or anything.
motor seems to spin up freely if perhaps slowly compared to near 600's - actually the motor still feels tight.
stock suspension is yeah soft n bouncy, but one thing i noticed is its balanced , the front and the rear both compress and rebound at the same rate, unlike some newer bikes ive found where the forks are soft as and the shock is rock hard.
at the monet the worse thing on the bike is the front brakes, but has soon as i can i'll get them bleed with some fresh fluid and hopefully be mucho better.
cheers dave
and the mirrors are crap ..how can something that big be so bloody useless

Re: Fizzy finally arrived
been pretty bizzy with work and stuff and crap weather here in the southern hemisphere
but managed to get both a tooth smaller front sprocket and a V+H slipons fitted
BIG thumbs up to Darren (Ragedigital) for sending both items over and that they were in a good as nick as he said they were...awesome
the slipons gives the bike a nice burble at idle and nice note at revs and the sprockets definately helps around town , very happy.
cheers dave

Looks good! I hated to part with that exhaust - it shines! Has a nice sound to it without breaking your eardrums.
Glad to see both items made it and without injury.

VERY NICE... entire bike shines. Hard to believe it's that old. Time to get some Race Tech fork springs and see what she can do.
One of the most fun things is finding a fresh new road with a long straight stretch and nobody around for miles. This opinion may not reflect the policy of FZRonline.com or its management.

Re: Fizzy finally arrived
yep , got them and a gsxr1000 rear shock to fit , just gotta find some time oh and some money
Re: Fizzy finally arrived
sweet bike man , now you just need to get some (your choice of color) dirtbike number plate vinyl and cover up all that pink . unless you're into pink . it takes a long time to cut it out right but it beats painting and if you ever go to sell the bike you can just pull it off again .
