1989 fzr600 fuel pump questions.

Post by sgmxr6 »

Hi everyone new to the site having some trouble with my latest bike.
The previous owner was running a mr.gasket pump that had failed. So I picked up another one. They had the pump mounted under the rear seat and wired to the original harness and they also installed a mr.gasket fuel pressure regulator.I have no idea what the stock fuel pressure is.If anyone can tell me that's would be great. And if anyone can tell me if the regulator is needed that would be cool too.
If anyone else had used the mr.gasket pump where and how did you mount it?
Thanks Steve,

A pressure regulator?! Wow - what's the nominal output of that pump?

The stock FZR600 pump had a whopping 7kPa / 1 psig of pressure. It really is just a lift pump, since the bottom 1/3 of the tank is lower than the carbs.

The pump is the 42s its max output claims 3.5psi.The regulator was set to 1 psi so at least the p.o. dis dome homework.I guess I will continue to use the regulator I was just curious as I have seen people recommend the use of these pumps but havent mentioned a regulator.
I still need to find a suitable location for the pump to live there's very little room in the stock location.
