My New FZR600... Seat Question

Post by tlipps89 »

This is my 98 FZR600R, i traded a 1995 Dodge stratus for it with 165,00 miles on it... I already have done quite a bit to it paint, being major thing, it was lime green. I replaced a few parts (minor maintenance stuff) But here is the almost finished product.. I have some FZR stickers coming in the mail. I do have a question can anyone tell what kind of tail that is on the bike.. I need a new seat for it but have no idea what kind to order bc a normal fzr 600 seat will not fit.. The passenger seat on the bike says Kawasaki but im not sure if its a Kawasaki tail or not. The guy i got it from has no idea either. Thanks For your help!

It kind of looks like a 99-02 R6 tail piece and an r6 front seat. That swingarm looks to have been stretched as well and that rear tire isn't looking so hot either. I know the rear seats for the R6 tail are stupid pricey so maybe he found a kawi one that kind of fit on there. Not sure. Better pictures of the tail would help.

Looks to me like a zx6 tail. What is now known as a zzr600 tail. That only makes sense since it says kawasaki, to me

Edit **
A pic from the ass end will be the tell tale sign, unless they tried to use the stock light.
Looks like you also got the angry lights, a simple mod I've seen on the archives before, looks pretty cool to me although I don't care for the stretch too much. Not enough torque on the 6 to need it.

Yea you are right, it is the zzr600 tail.. I looked it up online.. Thanks. And as for the stretch i did not put that on. It came like that... Here is what the bike looked like when i got it

Wasn't a fan of the green... And the guy who had it just threw it together.. It had drywall screws holding on the tail into the frame.. So i tore it all apart and painted and got the right bolts and stuff.. The more and more i tore it apart the more and more i found things that where rigged to work. But I got it back up and running and assembled right. And here it is now

Although i dont know i almost like the black on black paint job i did.. What do you think?

I think you need to buy a swingarm from someone parting out. That isn't a drag bike, and that thing hanging off the end is ruining its performance as a sport bike. MHO, YMMV, using powers for evil voids the warranty but is a lot more fun.
