From what I am told in PA as long as they are not BLUE the cops don't hassle you about it.

You end up blinding the other cars on the road. To do it properly you need to retrofit a full kit into the assembly that has a proper reflector.
I see were your coming from but not exactly true, my single headlamp with dual bulbs has a projector lens fitted, my HIDs blind no one. For other stock headlamps your comments could and may be very true, if so riding a bike blinding everyone else is an added danger, if they can't see and veer off in your direction :yikes:

Rooster wrote:You can watch all those youtube cut and build video's to install miniprojectors or other refletor pieces but in the end you will have chopped up your stock hard to replace headlight system. why not just buy a set of 35w 4000-5000k aftermarket hid kits online that will just replace the stock bulbs and give it a try? China sells those kits for like $75 and then all you have to do is put them in.

i agree with rooster on this, get another one.
Ahhh!! The beauty of EBay!!!, I bought a second headlight assembly, as I do with all my mods just so I have my original to reuse if necessary. As any moder will tell you not every idea works out in the end...

Well what exactly are you wanting to do? I have bought several kits from an outfit by the name of VVME.com and they are Chinese but I like the quality and the price is right for the kits.I would suggest you get a 35Watt 4000k bizenon kit which merely moves the bulbs by solenoid froward and then back to change focus getting the high beam or low beam output. They never actually intensify in out put just change the way the light gets out of the housing. I will look at my lights more seriously tonight and then give you my best suggestions based on ease of install and then the max change over potential of modifying the actual headlights themselves. Does your FZR600 use H4 style bulbs or a different kind?

So it seems the best route is the HID's so back to my original question. Does the following seem to be the route for a 1997 FZR600? I also assume I will need 2 of them?

DDM 35W & 55W Single Hi/Lo Motorcycle HID Kit

35W
H4 Hi/Lo

yeah I checked the item you listed and they sell as a single ballast setup with harness to add a second ballast. Check around cause some outfits are selling dual sets for bikes as there are a lot more bikes running two head lights again.

So you were able to find those lens on Ebay or something?

I'm trying to figure out how to put in projector lenses... that's additionally tricky as they would have to be mounted behind a clear lens. I'm thinking something along the lines of the new R1 Headlights.

Yes they are 5 3/4" hot rod headlights, ordered to house the H4 H.I.D 6000K.These are full Glass units, and will handle the added heat. Bought a spare Fzr headlamp assembly, and modified it to fit these housings. These sit about 3/8" more forward in the fairing than the originals. when I was modding the housing my intention was to use the same adjusting screw/mounts. So they each have the original adjuster on the bottom of the housing.

Have you install the HIDs and tried them out yet?

Yes they are already inside the lamp buckets, and still allows the use of the black covers to hide the wires/back side. all I did at the time of modding them was hook them up out of curiosity, right now the entire bike is in pieces, replacing and upgrading everything. I can take some and post them. here is one right after the modding was complete with bulbs installed.Image
