HID Help

Post by meteorman2 »

Ok I have an 1997 FZR600 and I would love to put some HID's in it. I know I need ballasts and so on but have no idea what I actually need. (Size, Wattage, 1 or 2, 6000 8000 etc.) Does anyone know or can put together a list of what I need to order and and Mods I need to make to make them fit?

You can buy kits to upgrade to HID, not sure on price but have heard good things about a few of them.

Thats a very basic description about the kits but i believe the middle one would be your best bet, you'd have to order two though...

Is there a specific reason your wanting to upgrade to HID or is it just for pub talk?

The stock lights Suck so bad. I have to have the high beams on just to see anything. Tried newer bulbs. Same issue.

Putting HID bulbs in the stock housings is a good way to upset everyone else on the road. The reflectors are not designed for them and light will be cast everywhere. You end up blinding the other cars on the road. To do it properly you need to retrofit a full kit into the assembly that has a proper reflector.

Plus the lower k ones are actually brighter. running 4800k bulbs gives nice BRIGHT white light, but the higher temp bulbs may give you the cool color tint, they are not as bright. Plus in some areas the colors can get you a nice ticket.

Yeah, aint that funny how the bmw cars can run them, and blind everyone on the road, but if we put them in a bike we get to hand over some money to them and get some points on the record.......Not fair at all :swear ....

You can watch all those youtube cut and build video's to install miniprojectors or other refletor pieces but in the end you will have chopped up your stock hard to replace headlight system. why not just buy a set of 35w 4000-5000k aftermarket hid kits online that will just replace the stock bulbs and give it a try? China sells those kits for like $75 and then all you have to do is put them in.

Agreed Which is actually what I was intending to do but I am a total noob and have no idea what ones to get which is what I was asking.
