I have a chance to buy a 1987 FZ700 with 8900 miles in almost perfect shape, except.....it has not been fired up in 4 years! Two owner bike,never down,plastic perfect,current owner replaced tires 500 miles but 4 years ago,so they would need to go.The bike is ''Completely'' stock,not even a slipon. I know it's not a 750 and i'm old enough to remember this Yamaha's ''Tarriff'' bike along with the VFR700. Anyway,i respect the opinion of the forum members and would like your input. I can get bike for less than $700.00 with clear title.I'm not really interested in flipping the bike just buying to ride and add to my small collection, since i could hopefully get it / and up and running and roadworthy for around $1,000.00.

Ohh yeah, the FZ700.
Nice bike. The 750 was kinda groundbreaking.
When they dropped displacement to beat the tariff, I believe they also put the bike on a diet.
It got better in other words. I worked for Yamaha at the time, and it really was a nice bike to ride. Pre-radial revolution, but it still handled very nice, was nicely balanced.
I'd buy it at that price and provenance.

1987 FZ700
The FZ 700 was a great bike! Solid all around bike. The only difference between the 700 and 750 beside displacement are the brake rotors, fairing lowers, slight styling change on the rear plastic and a noticeable difference in power compared to the 750. Even so, I'd scoop that 700 up in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the input. I intend to get the bike Sat, i may need assistance from forum members getting her up and running. I assume the carbs need cleaning and i know it will get a new battery.
