Revs jump and clicking noise?
I recently cleaned up my FZR250 2KR and after putting it all back together im getting some strange clicking noise from the right coil which controls the 1 and 4 cylinder spark plugs. When this happens the bikes revs jump. It sound like the bike is running only 3 cylinders then one more starts when the click noise happens and gives it more revs. Can anyone help? I have replaces one of the bowl needle valves before putting the carbs back on. Could it possibly be incorrect coil re assembly?
Re: Revs jump and clicking noise?
Coils don't normally click; this could be a sign of damage to the internal insulation. Try swapping the coils, see if it moves to the 2-3 cyls. If the noise IS the coils, then the carb work had nothing to do with it. Unless you've knocked something astray putting the carbs back in ... Make sure the red and orange wires going to the coil are good and snug.
