TRX850 Project

Post by ragedigital »

One thing I like about this group is finding out about unique bikes around the world. "Crowe" mentioned to another member about finding a shock and said that he could find on on a "TRX850". I had no clue what that was, so I had to check it out.

Turns out that it looks like some Ducati trellis frame clone with a parallel-twin engine.

Here is the WIKI on it :: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_TRX850

Here is a link to a PROJECT bike that looks uber cool :: http://thetrxproject.blogspot.com/2011/ ... garda.html

it was yamaha's take on the ducati 900 of the early/mid 90's (not the 916). they use the liquid cooled parallel twin engine out of the TDM850 with tweeked firing timing to make it sound and feel like a V twin. they only bung out about 80bhp but handle realy well! point at the twisties and laugh your arse off!! the bonus about them is they never sold well and you can pick one up for less than £1500! chaep thrills and very different/rare! a mate had one with titanium scorpion pipes and it sounded f*%4king mint!!!

the one in the photo above has been well sorted, the fairind been drilled, forks swapped for USD units, wavey dics, 6 pot calipers and carbon pipes. looks great. the bog standard ones don't look quite as hot but still a good looking bike!

make sweet street fighters too!!!
