fork leg diameter

Post by crowe »

Recently ive been geeting some pain in my lower back after a ride out.

im putting this down to me just slowly turning into an old fart and am not able to keep up any more.

however im not yet ready to get rid of up my exup 1k just yet and get a goldwing and i certainly dont want to streetfighter the ol' girl.

my solution and saviour appears to be in the form of adjustable clipons. i recon a little bit of a rise and slightly closer to me is all i'll need.

my qustion is what is the fork leg diameter of the 1994/6 FZR1000 EXUP RU (fox eye & six pot caliper version)?

i think its 50mm but not 100%

anyone know for sure? cheers for any help in advance.

cheers.

My '91 has 43mm USD stanchions. As for the upper leg, I've never measured it.

Not sure if there was a major change from the 91 - 92 FZR1000 to the Foxeye version but mine uses 52mm clipons. Apex riser clipons are great and almost endlessly adjustable. Kinda pricey but worth it. I bought the set that lets you rise up to 4 inches but the lines/cables are what will be the limiter.

Best way is to measure the circumference off your fork leg and devide it by pie that will give you your diameter. Obviously the measuring needs to be done in millimeters

surely easiest way is to guage it with a caliper and drop it on a ruler...or is that too simple :headscratch:

You could even MAKE a caliper out of a metal coat hanger...its not exactly rocket science to make a C shape and steadily bend it to the width of the stanction
If its not broken it dont need fixing
