Best place to tap in a voltmeter
I'd like to install a voltmeter on my fzr. where's the best place to tap in? I was going to use the extra headlight plug I have but it seems that does not show the same voltage as across the battery. Where would be the best place to put it?

Re: Best place to tap in a voltmeter
You could just put it across the battery if that's what yer lookin fer....
Put a switch on it so it doesn't drain the battery.

Re: Best place to tap in a voltmeter
Hey back on this topic again. Can't I get a relay in order to put power to the voltmeter only when the bike turns on? What kind of relay would I be looking for to do something like that

Re: Best place to tap in a voltmeter
Pretty much any relay will do - you're talking a trivial power flow by automotive relay standards! Wire the coil in series with the key switch or kill switch; run a wire from the +ve pole of the battery to the common point of the relay switch, then to the voltmeter, then to the battery -ve.

Re: Best place to tap in a voltmeter
You should be able to use an inexpensive MOSFET transistor even. You're looking at very small current levels.
