Best location to splice engine temp sensor

I think my new plan was to somehow avoid the splice into the hose, and go right for the wires, or actually use te vapor sender piece to replace the stock one. Seems like it would be the most accurate for the engine/warning temp.

Remove the stock sender unit (circled in Orange below) and replace it with the vapor sender unit, I know others have attempted to steer you on the same path
