Triple tree and bar mount

Post by Tmcwhorter1 »

I am currently working on my first bike. It's a 92 fzr 600. I want to put a triple tree on it that has the bracket for a handle bar mount. I want to ditch the clamp on bars and go with a one piece solid bar. This being my first bike and first project I don't really know what kind to use or even where to find them. Idk if they have to be a certain size either. If u know of a website where to find them or what size I need plz help. Thank u

you are going to want to buy bar risers and a renthal bar, you'll then need to drill the top yoke to fit the bar risers but make sure they are fixed well and spread the load of the bolt (even fill the underside of the yoke with liquid metal to strengthen it). fit the bars, controls, grips and so on. you will also probably need to fit longer brake, clutch and trottle cables and either cut down or remove the fairing to allow full lock. Oh, and new mirrors (safety first)

in the uk you can get riser for £40, bars £25, cables £100 all in. most of which ebay will provide. all you gotta provide is time and money.

or you can buy a top yoke conversion for about £180 (thats just the top yoke and risers).

I already took all the plastics off. I'm making it into a street fighter. Do they make upper trees with the holes already drilled for a bar mount?

The yamaha xj 600 diversion (seca 2) upper tree will fit your forks mate, you wont have to buy any risers as their built in and any 7/8inch bars will fit it. get an upper clamp from a 92 model and you'll have no problem with it.

NO.

The 550 Seca had 35mm fork tubes (FZR has 38mm)...and the 550's spread between the fork tubes is probably a bit smaller as well (narrower rim/tire/fender).

I can't find any xj 600 diversion (seca II) triple clamps anywhere. I'm not trying to break the bank I just want to find something that will fit my forks and already has a riser n bar clamp. Please send me some links or brands to help me in my search. Thank u

Hi,
if you have machine shop facilities follow the first poster advice.

IF you want to do it simply use a Yamaha SECA II model top yoke it will slide into the place of the original top yoke no problem.
The bars the best are renthal (I have a set on my dirt bike and have not bent them yet (24 years)) they have various widths and depth of the bar bend (with a brace if you want)
