New Fzr in my Garage!

Post by akronos »

Hello ! I want to buy a new bike, 600 cc from 1990 to 1992. I already have a FZR 1000 genesis from 1987 .

The option are :

1) FZR 600 1991 or 1992

2) CBR 600 f2 1992

Help me please...!

These were the 2 bikes that I was looking at when I bought my first bike. I got the FZR more because it was available and less expensive at the time.

CBR600 F2 Pros:
- already has the 17" rear wheel.
- less known electrical gremlins
- many parts interchange from the newer CBR line (F3, F4, F4i)

FZR600 Pros:
- relatively unchanged for 10 years
- easy to upgrade using YZF600 parts

The biggest Con against the FZR is the rear wheel. If I had known about the rear wheel being 18" and how difficult it was going to be to find good tires for it I would have goon to the CBR. But looking back, I'm glad I went with the FZR. It is a fun bike that is easy to work on. It is also a little lighter than the CBR and has a better low end power curve. Another Pro for the FZR is that it will be cheaper to fix and modify than the CBR as a good bit of parts for that bike seem to command a higher price than they would for a FZR.

Either way you look at it, you're going to get a good bike. Pick the one that is in the best condition and the right price for you. You'll be happy either way.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

thanks for the answer! I live In Italy, and both bike i find at price of 1200-1500 $ . I already have a Fzr 1000 and i love it! I see the fzr 600 have 91 hp and cbr 600 100 hp. Low end and mid range are better in FzR?

I can't help but think that those posted horsepower numbers were inflated by the manufacturers. I do believe the FZR was in the high 80's. I would certainly be surprised to know that the F2 was getting 100 hp.

As much as I love the FZR, that F2 is a beautiful bike.
