Bolt size
What is the size of the bolt on our rear axle? I'm going to sears today to get a 12mm wrench that is thinner than the one i have and i want to get a socket for that bolt as well. I'm sick of using the wrong tools for the job.

It's a 19mm or 21mm I believe. I would go downstairs and check but I'm freaking beat to no end.

Re: Bolt size
(don't quote me but I think it's 19mm. But not sure, as I can't remember very well between the MX bike and the FZR)
I just went ahead last year and caved and bought an entire metric set of sockets and then some. Figure over the years you'll probably have more than 1 motorcycle, or at least another brand or type eventually. Although honestly I'll probably never use half the sizes, especially the larger ones. But just in case I need them I'll have 'em.
Really big type set can cost around $60 from Harbor Freight, the mid-size ones you can usually get anywhere for under $35. Do yourself a favor and get the deep impact types if that will work for you.
Don't feel bad about making up tools, I did today, I electrical taped a 15mm wrench to an L-handle driver to shove that damn tube up into the airbox without having to remove the damn gas tank, what a pain in the arse.
Speaking of which, I wasn't sure where to put this comment...............So I'll just put it here. I replaced BOTH my THROTTLE CABLES today. It was a total bitch. I nearly lost it, cursed Jesus himself once very very loudly, not good. Somebody told me a while back you will wish you had midget hands and 3 of them. I'd vote for 4 even smaller robotic hands for this. Ridiculous. Of course I didn't bring any manual or book with me but I figured it out.
So here is my point------------- (will he just get to it?)
ONE OF THE existing THROTTLE CABLES ACTUALLY SNAPPED AS I WAS REMOVING IT
It was nearly rusted to hell and had gotten really weak at the middle point where it must have been rubbing pretty hard the last 12 years. Good thing I replaced them. The pull cable was stretched to its maximum limit also. My guess is these are VERY UNDERAPPRECIATED parts. If you haven't replaced yours in a long time, you better do it soon. Imagine if that damn thing snapped while you were riding and someone was on your ass or you were in a corner or hell, anywhere, NOT GOOD.

Re: Bolt size
I don't even bother trying to do throttle cables by myself. I go find an extra set of hands, or I wait until one shows up. It's not worth the aggravation.
