Your battery is flat, or your starter is seized, or your engine is hydrolocked, or your wiring is seriously mashed up. If the starter solenoid is chattering, it means that all the safety interlocks are satisfied, and the system is trying to start the bike. Something is preventing the engine from turning; insufficient juice is the usual culprit.
The oil light comes on when you crank the bike; this is a bulb function test so you don't lunch your engine because of a burned-out bulb.
The starter will crank if the sidestand is down so long as you are in neutral. The starter will crank in gear so long as the sidestand is up and the clutch lever is pulled in.

Just be sure the car is OFF, so you don't fry your bike's regulator ...

Re: went to start up bike no luck! just clicking no cranking
I had the same problem and it was the starter solenoid. Just because it's clicking doesn't mean it's getting contact internally and sending juice to the starter. Corrosion is usually to blame for this. just put a screw driver across the terminals of the solenoid and the starter should crank. If it doesn't than it's the starter, if it does, it's most likely the solenoid. When mine was dead I just started it with a screw driver for a week until my new one showed up. Think I got an aftermarket one from dennis kirk for short money.

Re: went to start up bike no luck! just clicking no cranking
WENT and did the screw driver on the solenoid and nothing
Happen has a good spark so looks like battery is good. Nothing
Happened when I try to start it with screw driver
I went to remove the starter I tried but didn't come out. I
removed the cable and 2 screws holding it down but still
Didn't come loose, what else do I remove

Anyone else confused? I am. How do yo know there is a "good spark" if "nothingdayalalito wrote:WENT and did the screw driver on the solenoid and nothing

Happen" please tell me you attempted a bump start, if only for my sanity
Most things can be fixed "stupid" is unfortunately beyond repair

+1 to Lamer, this time.
This is your STARTER solenoid - there should be enough amps to weld that screwdriver to the terminal, not just produce a pretty spark. Tighten the screws back down, and try to bump-start the bike. If it starts, or at least turns over, you know the engine isn't seized.

Have you tried bump-starting the bike? Switch the key and kill switch on, put it in neutral, push the bike until you're running, hop on, clutch in and click it into gear, feather the clutch to turn the engine over.

Re: went to start up bike no luck! just clicking no cranking
could be the started Bendix gear got stuck against the flywheel and is now locked into place and burnt up the starter motor from spinning too long. they are high torque motors not meant to be ran for more than a few seconds.

Re: went to start up bike no luck! just clicking no cranking
If you cross the terminals on the solenoid and the started doesn't spin I highly doubt the solenoid is the problem. It sounds like the problem is the starter. Judging by your previous post regarding difficulty removing the starter, it sounds like something is buggered in there. The only thing that holds the starter in other than the screws is an o-ring where it goes into the motor. You should just be able to gently tap it out.

Re: went to start up bike no luck! just clicking no cranking
i was thinking the same thing, it should slide right out, it feels like its jammed in there not loose at all with the bolts off. i tried to crank it again and now i here something tring to spin by the lower engine. Im going to try to take it out again and try tapping it out, i hope this solve my problem. its getting cold out and i need to store it away.
Thanks for your help guys will keep you posted.
