92 FZR REAR TAIL MISSING ISSUE

Post by dayalalito »

ImageImageHELLO EVERYONE ,
Im new to this site and i recently bot a 92 FZR from a family member which he purchased from someone else etc, etc (you know what i mean),it has turned out to be a project bike as the previous owner REALLY didnt know what the hell he was doing! he removed the speedo, headlight ,cage and all the cockpit instruments and cut the front harness wires and taped them up to hide the mess. i allready replaced the harness with one from ebay eveything matched up and plugs where connected the way it was ment to be. im in the process of replacing parts on it and have already spent money on it.

i have been looking at the tail section on the bike and it didnt look right looks like someone chopped off the rear tail of the bike ! (If i can figure out how to download, i will download it for you to see what i mean.)

Need some advice can i cut it off another bike and weld it onto mine .

if any one has the section missing on a trashed frame that can cut it off hey send a an email

Thanks.

Doesn't your subframe unbolt from the main frame? If so just bolt a new one on instead. Got to be easier!!

Doesn't look like they took too much off. You can see in the image below when I had my bike apart.

It would probably be easier just welding back on what little bit they removed.

My Bad. Should have known really the amount of times I've had my sons 600 apart. Maybe just forgotten it's been so long.

So I spoke with my parts guy and he has a complete frame he can't use.
He is going to cutout the whole rear section for me .
Question is should I remove the whole rear or should I just weld the missing
Section on rear end

If he's going to give you the entire section the use all of it. If you replace just the later tail section then you could run into problems later. Ie: alignment, stress and cracking.
