Can't get my bike to start

Post by kbarela »

Still haven't been able to get my bike to start after it died during a rain storm. I've cleaned the carbs, and replaced spark plugs. I'm not getting any spark at this point and I'm at a dead end on what to do. I was talking it over with a friend at work and he said there's probable water in the "magneto" that needs to be drained. Wondering if this could be why it won't start and how can get to it to drain it. If what he said isn't it what else could it be? Please help I miss riding so much. Emailing me will be the fastest way to respond, kylebarela@gmail.com, thanks.

some electrical connection got wet. ALL are suspect, but a few are more likely.

The likely ones are:

handlebar switchgear- run/stop switch

ignition (key) switch

the big buss block leading to the ignition switch

Clean/dry them out. Apply dielectric grease

Not starting

I've already posted about this a couple times before, but now I have a new problem. First I got caught in the rain, bike died, did not have spark, cleaned carbs, replaced spark plugs, got new battery. Now I have spark but it's still not starting. Any ideas/ suggestions?

Are you getting Fuel flow? Or, maybe your getting to much fuel (flooding).

A very good suggestion (in my eyes) why make a new thread?

Please don't make life difficult, why should anyone waste their time tracing your old posts? Post in the original thread. makes sense to me :whistle

K,
the bike will not start if one of a couple of things are not correct..

A} Not the correct air/fuel ratio
B} no / not enough electricity to spark the detonation of the air fuel mixture in the cylinder.

As CJD said quite correctly this should be in your original thread, I for one have very little keyboard time to go chasing threads as the hospital disapproves of patients using laptops etc. So my time is better spent trying to get problem solved for Forum members ASAP., than catching up on historical gumph
