need some help 96 fzr600 having problems running runs on 3 cycl tried a new used igniter box but does the same runs on three cycl.
then i tried to do a zx2 coil and it still runs on three cycl but it jumped from number 2 not running to number three .
then i put my old coil on it know it wont start please someone help thx joe

There are only 2 spark channels, 1-4 and 2-3. If it runs on 3 cylinders, your TCI box isn't the issue. Pull off the plug caps for 2 & 3, and unscrew them from the lead. If the copper wiring inside is corroded or otherwise chewed up, trim about 1/4" off, then screw the cap back on - see if that solves the problem.

and if thats not it what else u might think it is one of my buddies said it might be the rotor or magneto on the motor

Your buddy is wrong ! If the mag/rotor was defective why would the majority of cylinders fire?

As Don said the firing system has two channels both of which work (other wise there would be two dead cylinders) so that says that the cylinder that is dead is down to a SINGLE dead plug / plug cap / plug lead.

check the resistance in the plug caps. The shrouds and small bit of contact tend to corrode. Otherwise check the HT lead connection...they may need trimming back and remaking
If its not broken it dont need fixing
