Mirrors and Base Plates

Post by emt803 »

Hi all... I am currently doing the usual beginner customizations for my '98 600r and have a question that is kind of hard to phrase with google. I'm not trying to throw a ton of money into her and want to make feasible changes that look good. I know that mirrors off of YZF 600's (along with a slim few other makes/ models) are direct bolt on replacements, however, if I bought a set of base plates that has a 6/8/10 mm etc mounting hole, I can mount any single posted mirror that I want correct? (Given that the replacement mirror fits that mm hole in the plate).

And since I got you here, if that won't work, and I get a pair with LED integrateds, is it a relatively novice level project to splice those into a new set of flush mounted signals. I know that there will probably be resistors required etc. but I suck at electrical stuff and don't particularly want to 'ground' my only mode of transportation if it's easily screw-up-able and I short everything out or start killing my power components. Is it difficult to hide the wire from the mirrors, or do most just hide/run it black taped down the windshield bracket?

I know that adding the integrated mirrors has been asked and detailed on the forum, so I can look all that up on my own if need be, I just want to know how difficult/affordable/feasible it is. Thanx guys!
"Upgrades"/ Miscellaneous Ideas Stolen From You Guys
- KnN Air filter
-Yamalube/ filter (I consider this an upgrade based on improved tranny performance from whatever oil PO was using.)
-Pirelli Demon Sport Tourings (110/70/17 front 140/70/18 rear)
-all turn signals yanked (flush mount's for front not ordered yet)
-recessed the brake light

To-Do List (in order of importance/ personal preference)
-520 Quick Acceleration kit (undecided due to long distance commuting)
-flush mounted front turnsignals (direct bolt on)
-mirror replacement (direct bolt on, maybe integrated if I can figure out how to install)
-repair minor fairing cracks, scratches and paint flat black (windshield as well)
-fenderectomy of sorts
-1995 YZF Supersport Tail Conversion (if a reasonable option presents itself)
