94 fzr1000 41mm fcr akropovic full system jetting

Post by Butterhair »

Hi there,
I am new to the forum and I am having trouble finding the correct main jet size for my 94 fzr1000. I have Stock airbox (k&n installed), full akropovic titanium system (no exup), and 41mm Fcr's. I am currently running 148 mains with the needle raised all the way up. Bike pulls good until about 6500-7000, then it falls on it's face. I live at sea level. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Take it and get it dyno tuned.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

No, it is possible to get a proper tune without the EXUP valve. It is just a bigger bitch to do.

Thanks for the advice. I think that I am going to try and find a dyno somewhere near by. I just can't see removing the nice titanium header and putting back on the heavy stock one. Thanks again.

I reckon you are throwing WAY too much fuel in. I have a 1040cc that breaths really well and I only use 132 mains and needles second from last. Even now it runs rich and still needs tuning. Others with a 1040cc use 128s.

I wouldn't think your Akcro needs anything much more than the standard jet. Manufactuers set vehicles rich from the factory anyway. Go lower on your mains and look more closely at your jetting for below 3000rpm since you have no EXUP.

I have the Keihin 41mm FCRs on my bike.

I think you are probably lean on the main circuit.

I am currently running 52/55 pilot jets and 158/160 main jets. Needles are on 2nd clip from top and no air filter.

I drag race my bike and using the mph method I think I am still a little bit lean on the main circuit- the mph falls off a little when the air cools down.

I am in the process of installing a Daytona Sensors WEGO III A/F monitor/data logger on the bike so I will know for sure how ideal my jetting is soon. At $360.00 it's not terribly inexpensive but you could spend that much easily for one dyno session. It's probably the easiest/cheapest way to properly tune the FCR carburetors.
